Noted and illustrated in Brunius (1850): the round basin is quasi-cylindrical, its sides ornamented with a pattern of looping branches and triquetra n the spandrels; this ornamentation is framed at top and bottom with thin rope motif; the rounded underbowl and base are both plain. Illustrated in Hildebrand (1907: fig. 229) who includes the Runic inscription that is located on the upper surface of the basin rim. Described and illustrated in Tynell (1913-1921) with attribution to Mårten and the Hörsgruppen of fonts; Tynell gives references to Brunius, Hildebrand, etc., and spells the name of the place as "Hör". The inscription is translated in Rydbeck (1936: 167), who attributes the font to "Mårten" [cf. other Index entries of the Hörsgruppen by Mårten] and illustrates the basin and the detail of the inscription. Svanberg (1995) claims there is a self-portrait of the master on the font. Illustrated in Carelli (2001: 300) after Hildebrand (1898-) with an illustration of the runic inscription. Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 900623F4] as a 'Mårten' baptismal font made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century bearing a Runic inscription, and quoted Svanberg's claim about the self portrait' the SHM entry gives the drain hole in the basin well as measuring 11 cm and reports a copper lining insert in the font basin. The font consists of a tub-shaped basin decorated with a broad band of acanthus palmettes linked between them in an interlace; tendrils stem out from the palmettes and fill the upper spandrels; a pair of rope mouldings frame the foliated band; there is a Runic inscription in the upper rim of the basin; it has been interpreted as the signature of Mårten, the stone-master; on a plain round-to-square base with motifs at the four corners.
