A baptismal font ornamented with dog-tooth of X-shaped motif is mentioned in Sveriges kyrkor: Bohuslän (1944- , v. 218: 98). Noted in Hallbäck (1966). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 920606F4] as a baptismal font made of sandstone ca, 1200 by a regional hand, decorated with eleven "medaljonger med stjärnor i karvsnittsteknik". The font of sandstone consists of a round basin with certical sides and a rounded underbowl, raised on a short cylindrical stem and a round lower base; the side of the basin are divided into narrow panels by piping, with eleven stylised encircled floral 8-petal motifs (not dog-tooth) all around, while the underbowl is decorated with a large incised zig-zag pattern the short stem has a loose two-strand braid all around; the upper surface of the lower base mirrors the zig-zag pattern of the underbowl. There is cover present on the font, nor is there any evidence of metal staples or the damage in their absence from an old cover. A metal insert, not a lining proper, but an insert resembling one, of semicircular shape, is used instead of a baptismal dish is in use for baptisms on this font. [NB: the font of the medieval church, together with the font of the demolished medieval church at nearby Grovare, was moved to the new church, where they both are now; a local tradition is said to be kept that the children born in Grovare are baptised in the Grovare font, while the rest are baptised in the font brought in from old Fänneslunda church].
