[***NB: this font does not match the other photographs we have; the basin here shows two sides decorated with the weaved 4-strand patterns, side to -side, but the Resteröd font only has one such side -- which font is this?]***

Noted in Sveriges kyrkor (Bohuslän (1944- , v. 218: 98) as a baptismal font ornamented with dog-tooth or X-shaped motif. Noted and illustrated in Hallbäck (1961) as a baptismal font made of soapstone in the 12th cenury by masters Sven and Torbjörn.; the font was sold to the Göteborgs stadsmuseum; the author reports a replica copy of the font made in 1920. Described and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref. 920901F5] as a baptismal font made of soapstone, dated to the mid-12th century, part of the "Sven-Torbjörngruppen", in the Göteborgs stadsmuseum. On-site notes: this soapstone font is now [11 August 2010] in the city museum at Göteborg [Göteborgs stadsmuseum]: this font was being exhibited in the Museum. The basin is square with tapering sides decorated with patterns; two of the sides have dragons with ornate vine-like bodies; one side is covered with a reticular X-in-a-square pattern; the fourth side has a four-strand interlace weave. The font is raised on a plain square base the width of the bottom of the basin; it appears to be of the same stone as the basin. The basin has a frain hole located off-centre, at one of the angles of the inner well, but seems to drain down, not sideways. There is no font-cover, nor evidence of cover hardware on the font. The basin is cracked through at the bottom. Font said to have been sold to the museum ca. 1920
