Described in Mackeprang (1941: 138, 258, 261-262). Described and illustrated in Danmarks kirker: Århus amt (1968- , Bd. 9, hft. 50: 4882-4884) [http://danmarkskirker.natmus.dk/uploads/tx_tcchurchsearch/Aarhus_4867-4932.pdf] [accessed 18 December 2024]: "All that survives of the medieval furnishings is a Romanesque font composed of a basin, which has probably always stood in the church, and a base that possibly comes from a demolished neighbouring church." The DK entry further notes that in the 1788-1789 renovations "Most of the furniture was replaced with new [...] The Romanesque font had to make way for a smaller font of wood ["font af én af træ, der 1848 stod i kirken"]. Chalice-shaped baptismal font of a composite character: the basin is believed to be the original from this church, whereas the base is said to have originated in another church in the area. The basin is quasi-hemispherical with a net of thin rope moulding framing the low-relief figures on it (human figures and animal -lions?) in quadrangular frames. The base is conical with an upper ring moulding; a drawing of the base layout done in 1874 by J. Magnus Petersen is shown in the DK source (p. 4883): below a row of scallop motif are several symbols and animals; two Greek crosses next to each other; the one on the left has other smaller symbols "sprouting" from it, perhaps meant to be Instruments of the Passion (a heart, a tiny cross, etc.); the cross next to it, to the right, has a bird (dove?) on each of its two horizontal arms, facing each other; to the left and right of the cross, on the lower side, zigzag motifs; a 6-petal flower appears to the right of this cross; next are two animals facing each other, the larger one on the left could be a lion or wolf, while the smaller one, on the right, could be a deer or lamb; their tails finish in flower-like ends.
