Harrison (1920) writes: "disused font, square ; stone bowl (stoup or mortar)". Described in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as an "interesting old font" that had been cast out of the church but was later brought back to the church but no longer used for baptism. Whiteman (1994) writes: "Of the two fonts, one is modern, the other medieval, a square block of stone." Noted and illustrated in Roughwood.net [www.roughwood.net/ChurchAlbum/EastSussex/Pevensey/PevenseyStNicholas2004.htm] [accessed 10 August 2010]: "The Norman font, situated at the west end of the nave, is of Caen stone. The retractable canopy was carved by Mr Albert Vidler, of "The Gables", Pevensey, c. 1890."
