Church Notes: medieval church 12th-13thC(?); present church 1833-1835 replaced the medieval church here incorporating elements of the old building;
Noted in Blomqvist as a baptismal font made of sandstone in the 12th century by the 'Njudungsmästaren' workshop. Inventoried and illustrated in Borg (2002) as a baptismal font of the 'Njudungsgruppen huvudtyp' made of sandstone between 1770 and 1220 [NB: Borg (2002) refers in his catalogue to a 1934 source by Ragnar Lindstam, 'Tofteryd. Dopfunten av grov sandsten', but the set of measurements in it appear to be way off the other sources]. Listed as a baptismal font of the Bestiarius workshop (Group 4) in Drake (2002: 183). Noted and illustrated in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld [ref.: 910713F3] as a baptismal font of the 'Njudungsgruppen' made of sandstone in the second half of the 12th century with some colour fragments probably of later addition. No cover present.
