animal - fabulous animal or monster - winged lion - passant

Scene Description: passant to the right -- if the 'hump' on its back is meant to be its wings, the animal would be a winged lion, as most of the other features would support that identification: the tail, seen here below, rather than above, is floriated, as is the long tongue issuing from its upside-down head -- like the other animals on this font, the mane appears to develop into an interlace, much eroded here

animal - mammal - lion - passant-gardant

Scene Description: passant to the right - the floriated tail end that appears to sprout from the back of the lion resembles the motifs in the arcade spandrels -- although much eroded now, there is an interlace decorating part of the lion's body, as if it developped from the the end of its mane
