A Romanesque font here is noted in TRÉSORS DU MOYEN ÂGE. Described and illustrated in Le patrimoine des communes d'Indre-et-Loire (2001, v. 1: 224) as a hemispheric mounted baptismal font of the 12th century; the basin stands on a short cylindrical base and has had an auxiliary small basin attached to one of its sides, making it into a double-font; this secundary basin is held up by an added base. Both the base and the added basin are probably later additions, from a time when the double-font became common in France. There is considerable damage to the larger basin, chiefly around the upper sides. The entry for this church in the French Wikipedia [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Église_Saint-Urbain_de_Courçay] [accessed 27 December 2023] notes and illustrates this font: "Des fonts baptismaux datent du XIIe siècle. There is no cover present but the upper rim of the large basin shows evidence of former anchorings for an old cover.
