Keyser (1919) notes that "Of the Norman arches two arches on either side of the nave remain", the church having undergone two 19th-century renovations, and adds "The font is modern, a rather poor replica of the one at Shottesbrooke." The Victoria County History (Berkshire, vol. 3, 1923) notes: "The oldest parts of the present building are the walls of the nave, which are only 2 ft. thick and may be remnants of an 11th-century church [...] The panelled and traceried octagonal font is of the 15th century," Described in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as "an octagonal font with typical Perpendicular panelling", "exceptional in retaining the early tub-like form with paneling of this period". [NB: we have no information on the earlier (Norman) font of this church].
