No entry for this Ripple found in the Domesday survey. A font here is described in Glynne (1877): "The font ugly and poor, with the date 1663, has a small octagonal bowl on round shaft." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a Restoration baptismal font dated 1663. Listed in Tyrrell-Green (19281) as one in a very large group of baptismal fonts that are plain octagonal with straightsided basins. Noted in Newman (1976): "Font. Plain octagonal bowl turning to round, dated 1663." [NB: Glynne (ibid.) notes the Norman fabric of this church but we have no information on its earlier font(s)].
