Noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "Font: octagonal font with moulded under-side, plain stem and moulded base, 15th-century." Listed in Tyrrell-Green (1928) as one in a very large group of baptismal fonts that are plain octagonal with straightsided basins. The font is of design that has rather shallow basin sides but with a long concave underbowl that continues in an unbroken line all the way to the base. The RCHM [ibid.) inventories a holy-water stoup of the 15th century in the N porch [no separate entry in this Index]
