Described and illustrated in Ronse (1929: 26-28 and fig. 38a-b-c) as a wall-mounted stone baptismal font probably from the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th century, the date of the construction of the old parish church at Wulveringhem; the object is roughly square on the outside and has a round basin well; three of the sides are ornamented with a torus and columns that create the spaces in which are found foliage, a pair of dragons and a single dragon. Ronse notes that the incision around the upper rim must been carved to accommodate a lid; there are no traces of any support and Ronse had no doubt that this was a wall-mounted font, especially since one of the sides is just rough. At the time of Ronse's writing, ca. 1929, the font was in the private collection of Mme. Merghelynck in the Beauvoorde manor house. A communication (e-mail of 26 September 2021) from Pol Herman inform: "This font is no longer in the manor house of Beauvoorde, but has been returned to the church, where it is now on the floor, next to a marble baptismal font from 1708." Additionally Pol Herman included a document descrbing and illustrating both fonts in this church, the old Romanesque tub and the early-18th century inscribed font in use: "1.
