Ronse (1929: 11) writes that the architect Viérin and the abbé Pille found in 1913 a fragment representing about two-thirds of the base of a baptismal font; this base is of the type that consists of a broad central column with four outer corner colonnettes; Ronse notes that this base shows a central drain conduit which, he suggests, was probable drilled at a later date, for the drainage of the fonts was often disregarded in the 12th century. NB: we are unable to locate any up-to-date information on the whereabouts of the medieval font]. The present font is listed in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/91933] [accessed 14 November 2023]: "doopvont [...] Kerk Sint-Jan-Baptist[Stahille] [...] Date: 1701 - 1800". The later limestone font is noted also in the Onroerenderfgoed.be [https://inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/88800] [accessed 14 November 2023]: "18de-eeuwse doopvont in hardsteen met een houten deksel", and in the entry for this church in the Dutch Wikipedia [https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sint-Jan_Baptistkerk_(Stalhille)] [accessed 14 November 2023]: "Het hardstenen doopvont is 18e-eeuws."
