Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Guide to the Architectural Antiquities of the Neighbourhood of Oxford (1846) as an octagonal mounted baptismal font from the middle of the 15th century; each side of the basin is ornamented with a praying angel with open wings; the chamfer of the underbowl is ornamented with large mfoliage motif. The pedestal of the base is octagonal and is ornamented with a blind arcade of trefoil Ogee arches; the lower base is also octagonal with a moulding. The font is raised on a tall octagonal plinth with a three-step stone ladder on one side. The Guide (ibid.) informs that the font "has been carefully restored". The Ecclesiastical and Architectural Topography of England: Oxfordshire (1850) notes: "The font is good P[erpendicular]".
