Font Notes:
Described in Sveriges kyrkor: Blekinge (1926-1965. Bd. I: 73) as a wooden bapttismal font dating from the first half of the 17th century; the font was restored and painted in the 1790s; a baldaquin on this font is illustrated in the same source (ibid., fig. 89, p. 79), an airy octagonal "crown-type" affair with the usual eight trusses around a central pole at the top, somewhat similar to the common Jacobean types of England; the cover is approximately the same age as the font. NB: in the present arrangement [cf. ImagesArea] the font is located in the northeast corner of the nave, by the pulpit, but the font cover hangs from the ceiling at the opposite end of the nace, in the southeast corner; onviously that was the location of the font in the earlier times.
