Footnoted in Romilly Allen (1888) as a baptismal font dated 1608 at 'Whixhall Chapel'. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as baptismal font dated 1608. Listed in Bond (1908) as a baptismal font from the period of James I, actually dated 1608. Newman & Pevsner (2006) described the early-17th century font: "dated 1608. Hexagonal, with scallop shell, rampant lion, etc., on the faces", as well as a 19th-century font by G.E. Street from his 1863-1867 renovation/re-building. Newman & Pevsner (ibid.) note that Street's 19th-century church replaced "a chapel of ease of Prees built c. 1608 1/4 m[ile] to the S[outh]."
