Described and illustrated in Grützner (1996: 20-21) as a bronze baptismal font dated to the middle of the 13th century; the basin is bucket-shaped and is plain except for an inscription [cf. Inscription area] that runs around the upper basin side between two thin mouldings, and another two such mouldings around the lower basin side; the basin is raised on three very slender legs, welded to lower basin rim at 120-degree angles; these three legs end in foot-like motifs. [NB: cf. Index entry for Nienstedtene for details and images of the present church there].
