Described and illustrated in Bond (1908) as a baptismal font perhaps of the 15th century, but using the ornamental style of the of the 14th century, in which both the basin and the pedestal base are "wholly surrounded with cusped rectangular panels"; the use of buttresses in this font is described in Bond (ibid.) as "introduced clumsily", and suggests that "the employment of battlements decoratively is another proof of the late date of the work. The lower portion of the base splays out and is ornamented with a rose in each panel. The basin is octagonal but with rounded sides which make it appear almost round in shape. Pevsner & Cherry (1973) note: "Perp[endicular], octagonal, very generously decorated. The most interesting thing is that the stem is switched by 22 1/2 degrees against the bowl so that all the quatrefoiling, lozenging, etc., appears [sic] broken at the corners, and the little buttresses support the sides and not the angles of the bowl."
