Font Notes:
Described and ilustrated in Le Patrimoine... de la Vendée (2001, v. 1: 78) as a Romanesque holy-water stoup in the Église Notre-Dame consisting of a basin that is square in plant but has rounded edges and underbowl, looking therefore almost hemispheric; on one of the sides of the basin it has a low-relief motif in the form of a "croix à cornes" [horned cross] that, the source argues, is not an esoteric motif but, rather, a symbol of the Holy Trinity. The pedestal base is a polygonal shaft: square at the upper 1/3, while the rest is hexagonal or octagonal [cf. Index entry for Puyravault No. 2, another Romanesque stoup in the same town]
