There are seven entries fod Haddiscoe [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TM4396/haddiscoe/] [accessed 14 December 2020] none of which mentions priest or church in it. Blomefield (1805-1810) writes; "The Church is a rectory dedicated to St. Mary, and is covered, as the chancel is with lead; has a round tower with 5 bells. [...] In the reign of Edward I. the rector had a manse with 20 acres of glebe [...] Thomas de Fauconer occurs rector in 22 of Edward I." [i.e., 1294]. The present font here is described in Tyrrell-Green (1928). Illustrated in Fisher (1962) as an octagonal mounted baptismal font, probably of the 15th century. Described in Pevsner & Wilson (1999): "Perp[endicular], with four lions against the stem and four angels with musical instruments and the signs of the four Evangelists against the bowl." Noted and illustrated in Knott (2005): "The font is typically late medieval East Anglian." One of several fonts of this same type found in Norfolk: the panels of the basin sides are deeply carved, usually alternating figures with the symbols of the Evangelists; on the side of the octagonal pedestal of the base four sedente lions alternate with buttresses. The font cover is of the Jacobean open-crown type with a ball finial. [NB: we have no information on the font from the 13th-century church here].
