Described by H. Cornell and A. Rappe in Sveriges kyrkor: Medelpad (Bd. I, 1939: hft. 2: 311, 317) as the surviving fragment from the basin of an early baptismal font [the fragment is reported in this source as having been moved to the museum at Härnösand]. 1200-talet. Dopfuntslocket från 1200- talet. Foto Ola George." A 1959 B&W photograph by Norrlandsbild, Fotosamlingen, Sundsvalls museum [https://digitaltmuseum.se/021015445991/fornfynd-i-tuna-kyrka-delar-av-en-dopfunt] [accessed 5 October 2020] shows the remains of the medieval font: a large rounded fragment of the underbowl, a quatrefoiled-shaoed pedestal base and a low-conical wooden font cover decorated with a band of acanthus motif all around; as indicated in Cornell, Rappe and in George [cf. supra] the outer side of the underbowl has some sort of arris or rib pattern radiating from the lower centre; it could be surmised that the basin itself was also quatrefoiled in shape, were it not for the fact that the old cover is round, and it would have been made to fit onto a round rim [cf. ImagesArea]. The present baptismal font in use in this church is modern, located at the east end, north side, by the pulpit.
