Described in Bond (1908: 27) as "a beautiful quattrocento tank at S. Giovanni, Siena, by Jacopo della Quercia". One side of this font has a scene of the Baptism of Christ in the River Jordan at the hands of John the Baptist with several angels (?) in attendance. The THAIS web site [www.thais.it/scultura/sch00094.htm] identifies one of the bronzes [The feast of Herod] carved between 1423 and 1427. as the work of Donatello.
