There is an entry for Northfleet [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ6274/northfleet/] [accessed 28 November 2019]; it reports a church in it. Glynne (1877) reports a plain octagonal font in this church. It is certainily not the same font described and ilustrated in Bond (1908) as an octagonal 15th-century baptismal font; the scenes on the panels of the basin sides include "the Baptism of Christ, with the dove and the Manus Dei to the left; the next panel to the right has the Agnus Dei. In the next panel [...] Christ rises fom the grave, holding in His left hand a cross and banner [...]. The next panel to the left shews a chalice within which is the Sacred Host surrounded by rays of glory, from the midst of which rises Our Lord" [only six of the sides are shown in Bond]. Ignored in Newman (1980). The St. Botolph's Parish web site [www.stbotolph-northfleet.org.uk/History.htm] notes: "The font is late 14th Century. It was restored and reconsecrated in 1937 having been desecrated seventy years earlier. [cf. Index entry for Northfleet No. 2 for the ancient holy-water stoup in this church] ***[conflict of fonts? Have contacted the Parish to try and resolve it (17 Feb 2010)]***
