Described in Blight (1863): "The bowl of the font appears to be the sole relic of earlier work; it has a cable moulding, scolloped [sic] sides, and a rude toth-ornament above. Its date is probably transition from Norman to Early English". Described in Bond (1908) as being a baptismal font of the Norman period/style with a basin in the shape of a scalloped capital. Cox (1912) notes: "Font, Norm[an] with cable moulding". [NB: The baptismal font in use at present appears to be a creative experiment in neo-Norman collage incorporating a pot-pourri of Norman motifs]. Pevsner (1970) simply notes: "Font. Norman, of an unusual design with scalloped sides, a chip-carved moulding along the top, a cable-moulding below."
