Bond (1908: 277) reports an event related to the font at the Abbey: "Carter recorded with indignation in 1799 that at Westminster Abbey the font had been turned out and was lying upside down in a side-room." In another chapter (ibid., p. 61) Bond mentions that "a great font with a partition has been placed in Westminster Cathedral."
