The baptismal font in this church is illustrated in Archaeologia Cambrensis. vol. V, 4th series (1874), p. 43. It is reported in Kelly's Directory for South Wales (1895) as being of the 12th century. Bond (1908) describes it as one of a number of fonts on which the Tree of Life symbol appears with a wild beast on either side; the basin is octagonal and decorated with an arcade. The COFLEIN database of the RCAHMW [http://www.coflein.gov.uk] [accessed 13 December 2010] reports a "Black and white print of a font at Llanbadarn Fawr Church, Radnor" of ca. 1900 in the NMR Archives [cat. No.: C2961 -- accession no. NA/GEN/95/042e]. The Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust Historic Settlements Survey - Radnorshire [www.cpat.org.uk/ycom/radnor/llanbadarnfawr.pdf] [accessed 24 March 2012] notes: "The church of St Padarn, otherwise St Paternus [...] was rebuilt in 1878. The south doorway retains a Romanesque tympanum and other carved stonework (perhaps of c.1100-1150) [...] The font is 17th century". The entry for this church in British Listed Buildings [https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300008720-church-of-st-padarn-llanbadarn-fawr] [accessed 10 January 2020] notes: "There are 2 fonts. A plain octagonal C15 bowl is mounted on reconstructed masonry, and has a wooden cover inscribed 'IDV 1679'. The C19 octagonal font has a shaped bowl and stem" [NB: no mention is made of the font decorated with symbols and an arcade reported in Bond].
