There is an entry for Lechlade [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU2199/lechlade/] [accessed 21 December 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. A font here is illustrated in Bond (1908); the font is octagonal mounted with ornamentation on the basin sides and lower edge; each panel of the basin has a quatrefoil window, some round, some pointed; the lower edge of the basin appears cusped; the underbowl shows hollowed out sides; the base is modern and made of three volumes, from a narrow octagonal pedetsal at the top, to the splaying wide octagon at the lower end. The domed cover has a pointed end with a ball finial. The whole is raised on a wider octagonal plinth with projecting kneeling stone. Bond (ibid.) points out a niche in the pillar behind the font, in which a statue probably stood in the past. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. C15. Octagonal bowl enriched with quatrefoils with different cusps; octagonal stem. The original base has been lost. C18 font cover."
