No entry found for Hulcott in the Domesday survey. Sheahan (1862) notes: "The church [...] is a small ancient structure [...] dedicated to St. Mary, and formerly called the Lady Chapel [...] Of the font, only the bowl -a plain round bowl- remains". Described in Bond (1908) as a baptismal font that is "barrel shaped; i.e., they may bulge out in the centre". The Victoria County History (Buckingham, vol. 2, 1908) notes: "There are no details earlier than the 14th century, but the wailing of the nave is probably older than this date [...] The font at the west end of the south aisle is modern, octagonal with quatrefoiled panels on the bowl." [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the older font]
