Described in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. IV, hft. 4: 514-515) as fragments of a limestone cylindrical mounted baptismal font dated to the second half of the 13th century [cf. infra]; the two pieces preserved that were reported in the presbitery garden are a broken basin and a lower base. On-site notes: those two parts are now inside the church, in the southeast corner of the nave, just west of the pulpit. Such font would have probably looked much like the one still at nearby Anga, Ala, etc.; there is no trace of ornamentation left on it, if ever there was any. [NB: there are several factors to note about these fragments: there is no drain in either basin or base, which points to a late-date font, even though the design appears medieval-like; the 'base' is an unlike one, totally plain and with no fitting grooves, etc., to match a basin or a stem; is the'base' hollow?; was the whole thing an abandoned font project due to breakage? As they stand now, the fragments do not make much sense as an early font, certainly not a late-13th century font, as claimed in Sveriges kyrkor [cf. supra] -- the fragments in the churchyard [cf. Index entry for Kraklingbo No. 2] much more resemble a typical medieval font].
