Described and illustrated in Sveriges kyrkor: Gotland (Bd. II: 87, 88) as a baptismal font, probably of the 13th century, standing in the back of the nave; by the measurements given here (e.g.: font height=93; basin diameter= 71], one assumes that the font was complete [NB: the date of this source is ca. 1935]. Fåhraeus (1974: 53) illustrates the font as typical of a group with cylindrical basins mounted on conical stems; chiefly plain -as this one- or with a low-relief arcade on the basin sides. Berggren (2002: 155-156 and pl. 9) dates these fonts ca. 1200-1275 and shows the font "on its original podium". [NB: a fragment of a badly broken basin is also found in this church - cf. Index entry for Elinghem No. 2]
