Parker (1849) dates the font and other parts of this church "early in the last quarter of the thirteenth century". Described in Bond (1908) as a 13th-century baptismal font with a round basin ornamented with trefoil, nail-head and tooth motifs. Noted in Pevsner & Cherry (1973): "Circular, of Purbeck marble, with flat, blank pointed arches and in the spandrels crosses and flowers. Stone base with dog-tooth. C13". Described and illustrated in The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland (2008) as a baptismal font probably of the 13th century made of Purbeck stone and decorated with a blind arcade of pointed arches that have crosses, medallions, flowers and one shield in the spandrels. The CRSBI (ibid.) reports: "the bowl is unlined and there is lock damage on the rim." The base is roughly cylindrical, but four indented vertical rows of dogtooth motif make it slightly quatrefoil in shape; the upper rim of the base has nail-head motif all around below an angle moulding [NB: it is not clear from the available images whether the angle moulding is part of the basin or the base block]. The lower base is a modern addition according to the CRSBI (ibid.)
