Font Notes:
An illustration in Källström and Askmark (1948: pl. 84) shows an octagonal basin mounted on a square baluster-type pedestal, small enough to resemble a holy-water stoup rather than a font. The sides of the basin are chamfered to meet the narrowed upper base; the upper part of the eight panels is ornamented with a saw-tooth motif all around; below it, on the two visible panels, a large bird in each -one appears to be an eagle- and some foliage motifs. The upper base has the same saw-tooth motif, while the sides of the baluster pedestal are ornamented with foliage and floral motifs. The source (ibid., caption) identifies the material as "ölandskalksten" [=Öland limestone] and dates it to the mid-1600s. Some damage to the upper rim on two of the basin sides, not at opposite ends.
