Octagonal mounted baptismal font ornamented with scenes, figures, etc.; equally designed and ornamented canopy cover; appears to be made of wood; the base has a central core with tall figures at the corners [source: Södeberg, 1987: 138 ill.]. Described and partially illustrated in Bach-Nielsen (1998: 111-113) as an octagonal mounted baptismal font made in 1628 by Jakob Kremberg. Bach-Nielsen (ibid., p. 112) identifies the scenas on the basin sides as: 1)the Flood; 2)conflated scene: Moses crosses the Red Sea while the Pharaoh and his army drown; 3)circumcision of child Christ; 4)baptism of Christ; 5)baptism scene related to John 3:22ff; 6)baptism of adults related to Acts 8:11; 7)Bach-Nielsen describes this scene as "hofmandes dåb" [=baptism of the courtier] (ibid., p. 112) and gives "Apg. 8-28" [=Acts 8:28] as reference -- NB: this must be a reference to the eunuch, "a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for the worship" (Acts 8:27), whom Philip baptises in Acts 8:38: "and they went both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him." All scenes are enclosed in picture-frame borders, each to a side of the basin [side 8 not described but contains an oval cartouche frame in which an arm holding a club strikes a snake in the ground], and separated by buttress-like protrusions at the corners; these are ornamented with heads and foliage, all very Baroque, nowhere a plain surface to be found on it. The base has a carved and ornamented central core as well as standing figures at the corners.
