Font Notes:
Described and illustrated [base only] in Catalunya romànica (1984- , v. XIII: 422-423 as a holy-water stoup of the Renaissance style/period that is mounted on a recycled lower base of the Romanesque period ornamented with human figures. [NB: the caption in this source is wrongly named "Sant Esteve de Bertran"; it should read "Sant Esteve de Betren"]. The article on this church by Víctor López Lorente y David de la Garma in ARTEGUIAS [https://m.arteguias.com/iglesia/santestevebetren.htm] [accessed 8 May 2025] describes the stoup as above, as well as the baptismal font itself, monolithic and plain: "De época medieval, destaca una pila bautismal sin ninguna decoración, tallada en una pieza monolítica; una basa románica con unos relieves de figuras humanas, que sostiene un fuste sobre el que se ha colocado una pila de agua bendita realizada siguiendo la estética renacentista, con decoración de hojas de acanto". The entry for this church in Art Medieval [https://www.artmedieval.net/castella/Lleida/betren.htm] [accessed 8 May 2025] is dated 2006 and mentions that stoup and a baptismal font in it; it shows the 16th-century stoup on a modern base captioned: "En el interior se conserva una pila de agua bendita del siglo XVI que hasta hace unos años se apoyaba en un pie románico con unas esculturas humanas poco definidas y una pila bautismal"; it does not illustrate the font. [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the figural base].
