Baptismal font noted with an illustration in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923): "octagonal bowl with panelled sides carved alternately with roses and the symbols of the evangelists, under-edge with four half-angels holding hearts or shields, buttressed stem, early 16th-century." In Pevsner (1976): "Font. Octagonal, stem with buttresses, bowl with the four Symbols of the Evangelists and four rosettes. The figure carving is very primitive." Bettley & Pevsner (2007) add the date "Early C16". The Evangelists' symbols are somewhat 'sui generis', and not in the style expected in a late-Perpendicular English font
