There is an entry for this Branston [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TF0267/branston/] [accessed 4 November 2014]; and it reports a priest and a church in it. Bond (1908) informs that "in 1566 the churchwardens of Branston, Lincolnshire, sold, as superstitious, 'a painted cloth that covered the funte'" [NB: although there is no mention of the font itself in Bond, it is assumed that there was a font in place dating from that time or earlier]. English Heritage [Listing NGR: TF0213067313] (1967) reports a "fine C13 font" in this church.
