Lübke (1870) notes and illustrates the font cover of 1440 [presumably of the same date as the Gothic font], "high pierced turreted tabernacle". Described and illustrated in Bond (1908) as an early bronze font at the church of St. Katherine in Brandenburg. On-site notes: the font consists of an octagonal basin with tall vertical sides; each basin side has a pair of pointed arch with crocketed ends in which an Apostle stands, except one of the panels, the Baptism of Christ, which occupies the full side; the base is a short round pedestal decorated with a moulding and four reptiles [salamanders?]; the lower base has couchant lions on it. There is a bronze cover that matches the decor of the basin, and has at least one figure [St Mary?] on one of the sides, and a shield with the date 1777, which may refer to the renovation of the work; tall crocketed spire with avian [pelican?] finial; pulley system raises the tall cover.
