Font Notes:
On-site notes: there are two curious holy-water stoups (or fonts) in this church besides the well-known Roman altar converted to a stoup; they are wall mounted, almost like lavabos, except that their location would not make sense for that purpose: one is at the west wall, on the north side; the other is on the south wall, about middle of the nave. They are both housed (or hidden) in a sort of armoire that looks very much like a confessional; a front half-door opens to give access to the basin. The cabinetry may well be of late date (19th century?) but the stoups themselves are probably medieval. This one, located on the south wall, has a large rectangular basin and does not appear to have a drain. The locals we inquired from at the village seemed to recall that one of them had been used as baptismal font.
