On-site notes: the object now serving as holy-water stoup here is a round shallow marble basin now mounted on a modern wrought-iron stand. Seen from the top, the basin has three concentric circles, each at a different depth level: the outer circle has a stylised floral motif repeated all around; the next circle inwards has seven concave lobes, and the last level, which is the deepest of the three, has a Greek cross motif on the bottom. It looks very much in the style of the Roman or Early-Christian period altar stones -more often rectangular- found in the south of France, later converted to several uses, included baptismal fonts and/or holy-water stoups. The present church is modern, 19th-century, but an earlier church is mentioned in a source: "Dès 1081, une église romane, dédiée à saint Hippolyte, est mentionnée par un acte du Cartulaire de Lézat [...] En 1854, l’église paroissiale est démolie et rebâtie à un autre emplacement" [http://www.marquefave.fr/fr/information/78292/decouvrir-marquefave] [accessed 28 March 2020]
