The tall octagonal tower is part of the cathedral complex. It consists of two volumes: the lower one is inconspicuous and in unpainted brick, whereas the upper five floors form an octagonal prism, two pentagonal windows per side, most strikingly coloured in white and siena. The centre of the inside of the baptistery -where one would expect to find the piscina, is now occupied by the lead font.
