Described and illustrated in Morales & Casares (1977-1978) as a Romanesque baptismal font originally from the church of San Pedro de Con, now [ca. 1977] in a private home in nearby Cangas de Onis. Described in Alvarez Martínez (1990) as a baptismal font of circa 12th century with a conical upper base mounted on a cylindrical lower base; it has saw-tooth motif ornamentation on the upper rim of the basin [NB: not known whether the font was returned to the church as a result of M & C's reported location ca. 1977]. Alvarez Martínez (2007) remarks on the use of the zigzag (or saw-tooth) motif to symbolise the regenerative waters of baptism. At present [December 2013] the bucket-shaped basin is back in the church of San Pedro, in Mestas de Con, mounted on a block and cement corner platform at the west end of the nave. There is a plain, roughly hemispherical stoup wall-mounted on the south wall, just east of the south doorway.
