Described and illustrated in Schätze des Glaubens (1999: 130) as a hexagonal baptismal font dated to 1657 by an inscription on the lower basin side; the tall basin thins down at the lower underbowl and is joined to the squat hesagonal base by a moulding of the same shape. The ornamentation consists of large High Gothic windows with ends curling like foliage stems. The plain flat wooden lid is hexagonal and appears to be of a later date (?). [Reference is given in the source above as "Inventarnummer 4487.6601"].
A second (?) font appears to have been disused and placed in the churchyard, according to an article by Erwin Schonenberger in the St. Galler Tagblatt [ed. 26 April 2016] [http://www.tagblatt.ch/ostschweiz/thurgau/amriswil/Der-alte-Taufstein-kehrt-zurueck;art123848,4602092] [accessed 15 February 2018]; this source informs that the church council has proposed to have the font moved to a safer location, near the priests' tombs: "Bernhard Bischof hatte die Kirchenvorsteherschaft darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass der alte Taufstein aus der Pelagiuskirche zweckentfremdet und der Witterung ausgesetzt im Museumsgarten stehe. Die Kirchenbehörde hat nun beschlossen, den Taufstein östlich der Pelagiuskirche in der Nähe der Priestergräber zu plazieren. Eine Besonderheit dieses Taufsteins ist, dass entsprechend der früheren paritätischen Nutzung die Pelagiuskirche über zwei getrennte Taufbecken verfügt." The accompanying illustration shows the upper part (+/- 30%) of an octagonal basin decorated with trefoiled crosses and tracery.
