Cognate Fonts: The font at Rickenbach, in the same canton, is dated slightly earlier and its ornamentation is different, but it has exactly the same shape and even bears a Biblical inscription at the upper basin side like the font at Pfyn. Schätze des Glaubens (1999: 130) indicates that the later font at the Catholic church in Arbon bears resemblance to them as well.
Described and illustrated in Schätze des Glaubens (1999: 130) as an hexagonal baptismal font of the Renaissance period; there is a New Testament inscription running around the upper rim sides; the panels of the basin are ornamented with stylised foliage/floral motifs; the upper part of the base has a moulding and the lower base is splayed but also hexagonal as the basin. The same source points out its resemblance to the later font at the Catholic church in Arbon (ibid.), while its similarity in shape and design, but not in the ornamentation, with the font at Rickenbach is obvious.
