Described and illustrated in Schätze des Glaubens (1999: 128) as a chalice-shaped octagonal basin of late-Gothic period design on a short square base; the font is of either painted or naturally almost-white sandstone but has a large shield with a coat of arms brightfully painted on each of its sides: a blue shield charged with a golden Greek cross over a white crescent; then a yellow shield charged with two black ravens (?); an orange/red shield charged with a red heart, a half-millwheel and the initials IW, which the source [cf. supra] identifies as those of Joseph Weber; a greenish/blue shield charged with a full millwheel and the initials BH, which the source identifies as those of Benedikt Harder, deputy bailiff of Eschenz; other shields not visible but mentioned in the source are four more shields, three of them with the initials HB, HT and KPF, respectively; the source identifies HB as those of Hans Bach, of the church treasury. The date 1580 is engraved and painted on the underbowl, under the shield with the two ravens [Reference is given in the source above as "Inventarnummer 4806.1602].
