On-site notes: a lovely couchant lion (?) of the type [stylofore] often found in Italian and south-eastern French churches serving as bases of columns, pulpits, etc. In this case it appears that the object may have been recycled by adding a stone basin on top and making it into a holy-water stoup. The porch of this church has two similar couchant lions (one holds a cub?, the other a child, as is common in these parts) serving as bases for the columns there.
