Described in Nieto Taberné (2001) as a Romanesque font decorated with a bands of rope, double-rope and weave motifs. Noted and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla-La Mancha: Cuenca (2009), with date in the early 13th century and with some decorative characteristics shared with two other fonts in this province: Villar del Saz de Navalón and Villalba de la Sierra. The Enciclopedia (ibid.) cites Ricardo Blanco Niño (1993: 9-45) [ref. N/A] on the movement of this font within the church: originally located at the west end of the nave; in 1603 an enclosure to house it was ordered by the episcopal visitor; in 1966 the font was moved to the Capilla de la Vera Cruz, where it now [2009] stands. The font consists of a hemispherical basin and a later square base; the basin has a thin moulding at the upper rim, and a band of finely executed three-strand weaved interlace all around, with a nother thin moulding below; the rest of the sides and underbowl are covered in an almost flat ribbed pattern, the ribs framed by piping that alternates torsade with double-piping all around. There is some damage to the upper rim.
