On-site notes: octagonal sunken font from Early-Christian baptistery discovered in the place known as "Le Bantayré", near Saint-Cizy. a commune of Cazères, by a local farmer while turning the soil [cf. Images for a description, plans of the site and other details in an article by Gabriel Manière - bibliographical reference below]. The sunken font of this baptistery was taken to Cazères and reconstructed in a porch attached to the parish church there. [Cf. Index entry for Cazères No. 2 for details of the baptistery itself]. Unfortunately, the church has no resources to care for the site and the town council appears to ignore the need to protect this reconstruction which is often used by some locals as handy rubbish dump, mingitorium, vomitorium et caetera! [We are grateful to M. l'abbé for his friendly help and we share his dispair for the negligence and vandalism with which this site is treated].
