On-site notes: like the baptismal font itself [cf. Index entry for Cazeaux... No. 1], the holy-water stoup is a crudely executed object; it is roughly hemispheric and has a number of symbols and/or ornaments carved on its sides: a Greek cross (?), a large capital "A" (?), a large capital "T" (?), etc. These different motifs and/or symbols do not appear to have a cohesive program and, furthermore, they are badly disfigured. [NB: these motifs, somewhat resembling Hebrew characters, appear in a few fonts in this area of France]
