Church Notes: Verdigi (1986: p. 109ff) dates the original chiesa di S. Agostino -formerly dedicated to S. Regolo- to the 11th century, with reconstructions in the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries. He also tells an odd story about the bishop of Sarzana stopping the use of the blessing of the water in the font in the new church (built in 1390) in 1584, because the faithful were in the habit of drinking the newly blessed water right-away (Ibid., p. 109)
