The baptismal font in the cathedral of Acerenza is reported in Belli D'Elia (1999: fig. 24) as a monolithic basin raised on an ancient column now turned to use as the base. The basin is plain but the columnar base ["tronco di colonna antica reimpiegato"] (Ibid., fig. 24 caption) has angled fluting all around it. The whole thing is mounted on a wider stone plinth which has a raised border as if it had been made to catch the excess water.
